Mental and emotional health awareness has always been my priority. My initiative in curating this content is to motivate you to find therapies that work best for your mental and emotional well-being. Perhaps, you will find some therapies that are written here which may work wonders for you. I would also share my personal experiences with you to make this curation interactive and interesting along the way. Let's throw some light on my gist quickly.  Â
Â
"It doesn't matter how many material possessions you own. Having fit and sound mental and emotional health is a real luxury!"Â Â
Â
1. NATURE THERAPYÂ
Take a walk outside to inhale the fresh air. Feel the hustle going around you. Listen to the noise of the breezy wind, and the voices of people. Observing mindfully what is going around is like experiencing "the power of now" instead of dwelling a lot on the past and being over-anxious about the future. Feel the vibe of the universe!Â
Â
2. SUNLIGHT THERAPY
This doesn't only bless you with vitamin D but also keeps you mentally healthy. Taking ample sunlight on your body every day helps a lot to absorb the optimistic vibrations of nature. Beachside sun basking can also be a good option. Feel the vastness of the ocean along with the warmth of sunlight. Isn't this the best therapy to feel good?
Â
3. MINDFULNESS THERAPYÂ
Anulom Vilom Pranayam has been a life-changing yoga practice for many. Do consider the medical advice given by your physician about your medical condition/ physical fitness before doing this. Do this breathing yoga at the time of dawn. This is a very powerful yoga practice for mental well-being. Soothing music + Meditation + Anulom Vilom Pranayam in solitude are the best mindfulness moments to work on attention, memory power, and regulating your emotions. I conclude this therapy as a "miracle therapy". Give it a try!Â
Â
4. COOKING THERAPYÂ
The best art in the world where you can use your optimum creativity is cooking. You are the artist, creator, and innovator who decides what all ingredients shall go in the dish, and how to serve dishes nicely. Cooking is a very therapeutic art. It engages your brain in the process of creating the delicious artwork of cooking with all your creativity.Â
Â
5. MUSIC THERAPYÂ
The music takes you into the world of nirvana. (The state of getting lost to find yourself again.) Lyrics and sound therapy work fantastically. Moving your body while listening to any music that you like is the instant solution to bring back your energetic mood. Shaking, and moving your body with the free-flowing lyrics is the way to get lost in your world of imagination. Â
Â
6. CREATIVITY THERAPYÂ
Keep your brain busy with creative activities. These activities could be your favorite hobbies. The brain tends to think anxious, and unhelpful thoughts a lot. Giving the brain a creative task helps to rewire the neurons to regulate overthinking, unnecessary worries, and anxious thoughts.
Â
7. WRITING THERAPYÂ
Writing and journaling take you into a different realm of life. Writing is the way to express your feelings, imagine the best possible life for yourself and pick some important points for visualization. If you are feeling lost, if you are feeling lonely, if you are feeling all over the place, if you are overwhelmed with mood swings and rushing emotions, take out the journal and start scribbling your state of mind on a piece of paper to feel light mentally as well as emotionally. Make a journal your best buddy!Â
Â
8. SPORTS THERAPYÂ
When you exhaust your physical energy in sports activities, your body blesses you with fantastic body endurance. This also blesses you with great mental endurance. This improves your mood, boosts self-esteem and confidence level, keeps you energetic throughout the day, helps your skin glow, improves physical stamina, improves your body posture, and exuberates a positive self-image and graceful personality. Warm up your muscles and get started!
Â
9. SHARING THERAPYÂ
"Sharing is Caring!" Instead of suppressing every feeling inside, choose to open up with trustworthy connections. Share with them what bothers you. I have seen many people just pile up their frustration inside their heads and burst out one day in an awful way at the wrong place and at the wrong time. Let your thoughts, feelings, and emotions flow out either through journaling or by sharing.Â
Â
10. GROOMING THERAPYÂ
Spare some time for fashion, makeup, and skincare. This will be time for self-love and self-pampering. External and internal grooming is as good as nourishing your mind, body, and soul.Â
Â
11. AROMATHERAPYÂ
Essential oils are an effective stress buster. Essential oil bath, body massage or just putting some drops in the diffuser helps to feel calm, fresh and rejuvenated instantly.Â
Â
12. SMILE THERAPYÂ
The more you smile the better you feel. Stand in front of the mirror and smile or laugh as if you are in some laughter club. This releases stress, and a tense mood. You have an important meeting, presentation, date, or interview; do this exercise before you step out. This is a power pose to feel confident and energetic right away. When you feel down his therapy is useful to trick your brain to feel happy. Accordingly, the brain releases feel-good chemicals that change your mood. Fake it till you make it!Â
Â
13. CRYING THERAPYÂ
Vents out everything. It is okay to cry. This doesn't mean you are mentally weak but it shows that you are aware of your emotions and you acknowledge them. This is a healthy way for your brain to wash out the impurity of the thoughts that are present in the brain for a long time. Cry wholeheartedly to feel calm from the inside. I do this, you do that, we all do that. "It's okay not to be okay!'
Â
14. DECLUTTER THERAPYÂ
Managing and organizing the mess has an impact on mental well-being. Our mental state is often reflected by the clutter around us. Therefore, decide mindfully what you need and what you don't need. Sometimes what you want is not what you need. Hence, mindfully choose what serves your purpose and manage the clutter in an organized way which will eventually help you to manage your own life in an organized way. Who hates a clean, neat, and tidy home that helps to have a sorted mind? Declutter the stuff that is stored unnecessarily, arrange simple items in the home in a more aesthetic way, and get some plants for the home. Keeping a physical space clean also helps boost your productivity along with mental and emotional well-being.Â
Â
15. HOMEWORK
Attempt the following thought-provoking questions. My intention behind this homework is to motivate you to think over the questions and reflect with genuine answers.Â
Remember, honesty is the best policy!Â
Â
Q1. Have you ever considered what significant role you play when it comes to your own mental and emotional well-being?Â
Â
Q2. What steps/ actions did you consider for your mental and emotional well-being regime?Â
Â
Q3. Are you keeping up with set steps/ actions?Â
Â
Q4. If you haven’t set a dedicated regime for yourself then would you like to curate one for yourself now? What one that would be?Â
Â
Q5. If you choose to keep track of your progress then are you satisfied with the progress?Â
Q6. What challenges are you facing along the way?Â
Â
Q7. Do you wish to modify the regime by substituting something that is not working for you?Â
Â
Q8. In which sphere of life did you observe the desired shift due to this regime?Â
Â
Q9. Would you love to pen down an improvement note briefly for yourself?Â
Â
Q10.What’s your next move with other goals and actions to prioritize your mental and emotional health?Â
Â
That's all. We are done!
Â
We often take our mental health for granted. We need to shift our focus on this as a topmost priority in life. It is very easy to find excuses but it is very hard to find one reason to be consistent with your mental and emotional health regime. I request you to spare some time from your busy routine chores and commitments to think over what you can do best for your mental and emotional health. My initiative in curating this article is to spread awareness by being vocal about mental and emotional health topics that are considered a stigma in our society and to make these taboo things normal as a part of living life.Â
Â
After all, glue to fix that is broken is just inside you. Dare to explore it!Â
