Conscious art of living helps to chase our true life purpose.
Once you are enlightened with your life purpose then contentment flows like a soothing river in your life.
It is said, "when the student is ready the teacher appears."
Lately, I was introduced to a wise person who is well-versed in the field of spirituality by beloved Universe. The lessons I learned from him are the gems of my life.
“If you want something in life, the whole universe conspires for you to get it.”
I always wanted a wise old man as a mentor who would hold my hand to teach me what life is all about. I love being around mature, practical beings. I love being around knowledgeable souls who has seen life, who has experienced life so that I get to learn the pearls of wisdom with them.
Everything in the universe happens on the right time. Even though I was desperate for the blessing of right mentor for so many years, universe had a secret agenda of fulfilling my innate desire in the year 2024. I am truly grateful to you my beloved universe! Period!
No matter how filthy rich you are, no matter how many luxuries you own, no matter how many precious possessions you have, spirituality is the only thing that holds the potential of ensuring lifelong contentment from within. I endorse this!
Now, let me share which are those profound habits that changed my life for better.
~ Touching Your Feet - Touching elder's feet is considered as gesture of good manners. Bowing down in front of God or elderly people is to remove the ego and surrender yourself for receiving the blessings given by them. What if you cultivate the same practice for yourself? Everyday, I touch my feet after waking up in the morning. By doing so, I show respect towards my soul who stood by my side through thick and thin. By doing so, I show forgiveness towards my mistakes and wrong decisions. It is easy to blame yourself, it is easy to be hard on yourself but it takes a conscious baby step to cultivate the habit of being mindful of appropriate actions and thoughts towards yourself.
~ Mirror Affirmations - This is a powerful technique, I bet you! I have been practicing mirror affirmations ritual in my daily life for so long. It has benefited me a lot. The perks of mirror affirmations are endless. We easily believe others, even sometimes a wrong person but we doubt ourselves even when we are right. There is this invisible barrier that always refrains us from believing ourselves. Mirror affirmations are there to develop a strong faith in yourself. No matter how imperfect you are, no matter how many flaws you have this technique helps to increase your self-worth, self-esteem and self-confidence. It is tried and tested by me. Whatever I wish to manifest in my life, I picture it as a reality with full emotions and feelings in front of the mirror. I say it out loudly to tell my subconscious brain how intensely I want that wish to come true. It could be a small note of appreciation or praise; it could be a motto of the day or it could be a deep message. With this ritual, you convey to the universe what you truly deserve in your life. Desires are just desires until you convey them to the universe. Remember - "You have not because you ask not!"
~ Best Moment of The Day - I got this idea when I saw people making videos on best moment of the month or best moment of the year. I wind up my day with best moment of the day exercise. This is my solitude time where I intentionally focus on the best moment of the day that succeeded in putting smile on my face. Our brain naturally focuses on the things that didn't go as per our wish, things that made us cry. This exercise helps us to cultivate the habit of focusing on positives rather than sulking over negatives.
~ Love Letter to Self - On every 14th February of the year, I write a love letter to myself. By doing so, I acknowledge why I love myself. There are 100 reasons why we hate ourselves but at the same time there are 1000 reasons why we shall love ourselves. The habit of writing letter to self promotes unconditional self-acceptance. This also changes your perception about yourself. How you look at yourself, how you see yourself that angle gets the right frame with this practice.
~ Future Self Letter - Envision yourself 1 year from now. Where do you see yourself? How does your future self look like? Write the letter to yourself as if you are the same person now that you are hoping to become in future. On 15th December of every year, I write this letter. I read it, then I keep it aside and just forget about it. On the next year's 14th December, I open the last year's letter to track my progress and goals.
~ Finding Mentor - Back in the day, when ship would cross the ocean without a compass, a sailor would use a North star to guide so they don't get lost in the unfathomable ocean. Finding the right mentor in life is as good as finding the lighthouse which will guide you on the right track in life. Sometimes you need someone by your side who can view a situation in neutrality to give you unbiased advice in life. Mentor is a torch bearer in the darkness before you could gauge the light at the end of the tunnel. Having a right mentor in life is like rejuvenating feeling that the nature gets after tormenting storm. The importance of mentor is not understood until you see a desirable shift in your life due to the right guidance given by your mentor at the right time.
~ Knowing Yourself Inside Out - It matters a lot what you think about yourself when you are by yourself. As I am getting older, I understand that it is very important to know myself inside out before I give it a try to know others. The more you thoroughly understand yourself, the better you get at managing other bonds in life. It is not others job to decide what you deserve but it is your duty to know what you truly deserve and to make this happen, you really need to do self-work. Evolvement is a life long process. Our nature, traits, personality, habits, mindset, likes, dislikes, life goals change a lot as time passes. Hence, knowing yourself inside out is indeed a forever journey. It is a quest of life where you are constantly checking in with yourself to have a better understanding of who you are and what you have become. I may sound cliché here, but I have an important advice for you. You might have heard or read this advice somewhere - Never settle for anything less than what you deserve and this is possible only when you know yourself fully.
~ Gratefulness - Being thankful to the Universe make us kind, considerate and humble enough to surrender ourselves to the divine power. When you are grateful for what you have then you will always be blessed with more prosperity and abundance. I cultivated a habit of saying "I Am Grateful" whenever I bump into the little blessings in my life. When my most awaited wishes come true, I take the opportunity to thank Universe for arranging the circumstances that fulfilled my dreams, desires and wishes. This gesture of mine motivates the universe to work hard to make things happen for me.
~ Mindfulness - The ultimate aim of spiritual path is conscious living where you are well- aware of your thoughts, words and actions. My quality of life has changed a lot once I started living consciously and mindfully. Make sure you are not hurting anyone with your actions or words. If you unintentionally hurt someone, sincere apology is the best way to seek forgiveness. Do such actions or speak such words that may have a positive impact on someone's life. Choose your thoughts wisely to keep your mind clutter-free. My life feels content and I feel a sense of satisfaction because of mindfulness.
~ Authentic You - We all have forgotten our true self? Don't you think so? Well, blame it on social media! Social media has brainwashed us all to look perfect, to project a rosy life, to seek validation outside. We easily get Influenced by others and there we loose our own identity. It is so unfortunate to see that our imperfections make us insecure, weak and hopeless rather than giving us the feeling of uniqueness. When you start developing independent thinking; when you start contemplating over life; when you start self reflecting; when you take your soul in the deep introspection, you find the "true self" hidden behind the layers of fake filters. It is time to cherish your rawness. It is time to be firm on what gives you true satisfaction. True self is discovered when you are no longer concerned or afraid to show the real you. It is not easy, I know, we all are people pleasers but the inner awakening of who you are, what your life purpose is will help you to be the most authentic you.
~ True blessings - Count your true blessings! Once I heard someone saying a profound, impactful sentence. "Har ek sas aur har ek pal bhi dua hai!" - Every breathe and every moment is a blessing! The real bliss is in having loving family, near ones unshakable support, committed friendships, and enough food. My blessings are my family, nature, close friends, sound health, privileges. What's yours?
~ Real luxury - These days people are flaunting their life with all the designer luxury items just as a part of status symbol. The real opulence is not in the materialistic things but in the quality time you spend with the loved ones and the sweet memories you create with them. Memories are the legacies that are shared with time. It is the heritage that makes you feel proud whenever your heart dwells on them. The real luxury is the good sleep that you get at night and the contentment that you feel from within. Many a times, many years and decades are wasted before we really understand the real luxury of having a good support system around us. Investing in yourself and the right people always comes with bumper returns of compassion, empathy, kindness and never decaying love. Thus, try to realize what the real luxury means to you before it is too late.
~ Sticking to your Roots - My heart feels heavy when I see people disrespecting their culture and traditions. If you are ashamed of it then you really need to contemplate over it. Learning different cultures and traditions definitely expands the horizon of your mindset. Following different cultures and traditions is a subjective topic and everyone should respect anybody's personal choice about it. But learning and following other's cultures and traditions by being ashamed of yours is not appreciable. I feel grounded when I give due respect and consideration to my roots, lineage, language, culture, heritage, legacy, traditions, rituals, and values. There is a divine reason why you are blessed with the culture, lineage and traditions you are born in. Ponder over!
~ Pursuit of Happiness - You have to try doing a commendable job of making yourself happy because happiness is the inner job! I will be happy when I own a car, I will be happy when I buy a new home, I will be happy when I am promoted, I will be happy whin I get married, I will be happy when I have a lot of money, I will be happy when my kids get the first rank. Of course, you will be happy once you get all these but often the happiness derived from these things are short-lived by giving us the feeling of something is lacking in life. Sometimes That "will be" never comes. There is no point in postponing happiness and relying on shallow things for being happy. Instead, make source of happiness inside you that will be long-lived. When I turned outward to seek happiness, I was disappointed by not finding it, but the moment I turned inward to seek happiness, I could find the ocean of things to be happy. Trust me, this ocean helped me to fill the void and hollowness of my life with a lot of abundance.
These are a few habits that changed my life for better.
We are ever evolving beings in the realm of spirituality. Every day we get to learn and unlearn life lessons. But remember, Simple things hold a significant potential to take you from the darkness to light.
The most simple things in life are the most extraordinary. - The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
